#9: Tips on staying away from the computer

Hi there!
Today I’m back with an article about how to not spend your life stuck to your computer screen. Don’t get me wrong, I’m totally addicted. I heart my computer. But as we say in French, fais ce que je dis, pas ce que je fais... (do what I say, not what I do)

If you have to study and won’t stop refreshing Tumblr, or desperately refreshing your Facebook timeline to see if there’s anything interesting, or if you just want to get a life, keep reading!

#Benefits of deconnecting

> Take the sun
You actually get to tan, when you go to the sun (or turn into a Barbapapa, if you’re like me), which is great, right? A bit of votamin D can’t do you wrong, as my grandmother would say. And grandmas are always right.
> See your friends
...Basically have a life. I wonder what that feels like, seeing the outside world.... Nah, just kidding.
Go see your friends, it’ll strengthen your friendship. There’s more to friendship than just seeing each other at school! And you’ll have a great time.
If you’re the lonely type, which happens, you can always do the same but with family, or anyone you like!
> Live healthier
That’s one of the most important points. When you go out, it really does have benefits on your health. Except if you go outside just to smoke. Nope, it doesn’t count.
Just imagine. If you have trouble sleeping (I do), you’ll be more exhausted after an afternoon of walking than an afternoon of sitting in front of your computer watching who knows what.

#Ideas on other activities

                                                   OUTSIDE
> Go the cinema/ mall/ concerts...
Basically, anything you like to do! Go shopping (be reasononable, though, I don’t want your mother or anyone to yell at me because I encouraged tou to buy stuff). Though, as I said here, it’s better to wait for the sales so you spend less money.
If you’re a movie-goer, make yourself happy, and go see a movie! You won’t regret it. Just pick a great one, because the costs are getting higher and higher (that really helps against illegal downloading).
If, just like, I, you love music, why not go see a concert? If I could, I’d go see them all. You just have a great time, singing and dancing to your favourite music. And you might just meet some new people! As far as I’m concerned, I always feel priviledged when I go to a concert. I don’t really know why. Maybe because I feel like it’s a huge party with someone I like a lot.

> Study in parcs/ read outside.
I really like to do this in summer. You tan and enjoy nature while you work/ read. No time lost! The downside is, if you’re in a parc, there might be kids playing and making noise. But hey, humans are cool :)
                                                     INSIDE
> Study/ read
You might have exams coming up. I do... Well, you need to stop spending so much time on the Internet. While it can be a good friend, too much of anything is never good. So shut it, and open your book.

> Spend time with your family
Play cards, watch a movie... Or talk. It’s great to just take time to be with your family.
> Don’t watch TV/ play video games
Of course you can. But if you’re trying to get away from your screen, don’t get addicted to another one. The same goes for phones, tablets, ...
> Sing, do music, or whatever makes you happy
What makes me happy is music. Singing, particularly. But playing the piano, too. What makes you happy? You should do it. Whatever that may be!

That’s it for today’s article, I hope you liked it!
As always, if you have a request or anything you’d like to tell me, make sure to message me either on Tumblr or with the ‘Contact’ page on my blog. You can also talk to me via my Facebook page. (The link is at the top of my Tumblr blog or on the top right on my blogspot.)
See you next Saturday!
Hugs,
Jill. x
PS: I would like to dedicate this article to my grandfather. Although computers have absolutely nothing to do with him, today is his 73rd birthday. Or it would have been, hadn’t he died nearly six years ago. And today exactly, it’s been six years since the last time I’ve seen him. He always was like a father to me, and I love and miss him dearly. I love you, ‘papounet’. Everything I do, I do to make you proud of me. I hope you are.
Kocham cię na całe życie.
